Inquiry Expo

Inquiry Expo

Hello and greetings, what you are about to read is Kelly, Lishana, Richard, and Sophia’s Inquiry post which consists of our ideas and project about force and motion. The reason they made us have this expo is to expose what we have learned and teach that to the team 4 so they could learn as well.

When we had to think of ideas for our experiment, a couple of ideas came  to our head like balloon cars and marshmallow catapults. We didn’t know what to pick but Richard insisted on balloon cars.

So we decided to do the balloon cars, because another team was doing the marshmallow catapult. We were ready on the second day of preparation, we had all we needed were the materials and our poster. Once we decided who was bringing what, we made a draft for the poster.

At the day in our expo we gathered our materials and made our experiment. Sadly it was fail. So Mr Wiseman went to our table and told us an idea of a balloon rocket. So we tried that and see if it worked. Again it didn't work. I was thinking of an idea to make this work. But all of our ideas didn’t even work at all.

We could of been more organised thing more we should have done it in our free time to get things done before the Expo. I was disappointed that we didn't finish in time to do the Expo. We should have also been sure with the things we brought and should’ve known the specific type.

Solving Problems With Fractions, Decimals, And Persentages

Another way to solve 1/2 + 1/4

Spy Fox And The Alpacalypse

Ah, yes it was finally Spy Fox’s break from working 24/7. His girlfriend, Lily decided he should take a break from it all. It was also perfect time for her to spend time with him, because she barely even hung out with him.

“We’re going on vacation? Okay ALPACA my things,” Snickered Spy Fox

“Geez Fox when will you ever stop with the puns?” Replied Lily.

Spy Fox and Lily agreed to not speak of any puns in the whole duration of the vacation. They decided to go to the mountains in Chile, South America. Lily got slightly worried about the vacation’s location, because she used to know someone who became evil and lived there. She hasn’t heard from her friend in a while so her hopes slightly went up at the thought.

The next day they were ready and waiting for they’re bus to the airport. They didn’t want to take their flying car for once because they got kinda tired of the feeling of riding it.

The bus arrived on time, there were a lot of people on the bus so there was barely any space. They had to squeeze in so they could fit. The ride to the airport was pretty uncomfortable.

They got to the airport and boarded their plane. They got first class seats, because they couldn’t bare the pain that the bus gave them. They had a really great 15 hour flight. They had great food, great service, and all the things you would imagine on a first class flight.

Once they landed, they took a cab to their rented home which by the way costs $2,999,999,999.99.

“Yes, a life of luxury and adventure all at the same time,” Said Lily as she entered the vacation house.

They wanted to thank the person who let them rent the place. As they had the thought of thanking the owner, someone rang the doorbell.

“I’ll get it,” said Fox cheerfully.

When He opened the door, an alpaca covered in a lot of designer clothes walked in. The alpaca was wearing glasses so they couldn’t really tell who it was.

“Um, how can I help you?” questioned Fox.

“Hello there, I’m Frisky. I wanted to check if you were doing fine in your new priso- I mean home,” Said the strange alpaca

Spy Fox felt a bit suspicious about this guy, but then Lily walked in the room.

“Oh Frisky! We were about to thank you for this opportunity,”
Said Lily.

“Well, your welcome I guess haha…” Frisky nervously replied.

Frisky was invited to have a little drink with them. He declined the offer. Fox felt really suspicious now.

“Umm, I really have to go now. I’m really busy at the moment, thanks for the offer though,” Said Frisky

*bzzzz bzzzz* A strange vibrating noise went on.

Frisky freaked out “Sorry I really need to go, like right now.”

He rudely ran out of the door that he also left open. Spy Fox saw Frisky throw something into the bush but he didn’t know what it was. Meanwhile Lily decided to continue unpacking. Fox didn’t want to have any distractions in his vacation when it just started, so he decided to stop thinking about it and check out the yard.

He opened his backdoors to a huge swimming pool and a yard filled with trees and plants. He walked around to admire them all, but then he felt like he was being watched. He felt quite uncomfortable, until he found out what was causing it. Fox found a camera in the bushes where Frisky passed by, which was apparently switched on. Thoughts of everything weird that happened today were swirling in his head. He didn’t want this, in all honesty he hated this. All he wanted was a simple vacation. He was just standing there until-

“Hey Fox can you help me out with this bag? It’s kind of heavy,” Asked Lily from the balcony above.

“Wh- what? Oh, yeah sure,” Said Fox.

After a day of unpacking, they decided to take a little break and do a little hike. Spy Fox was looking off into the sunset on his balcony. He was enjoying the view, until he saw something very strange. He saw Frisky the alpaca getting mad at a couple of tiny otters. He wanted to get all the weird stuff that happened that day out of his head. So he went over to his ‘Just incase’ spy kit to check out what he got. All the regular stuff was in it, but he found something pretty new. It was something that could scan and show you  footprints and fingerprints that are unseen by the naked eye. He put them in his pocket for ‘safekeeping’, you never know when you might need it.

“Hey, should I bring the ‘just in case’ spy kit with me tonight?” Questioned Fox… there was no reply though. “Lily? Lily where are you?” He shouted… there was still no reply.

He ran down the stairs and into the kitchen to where Lily was having a drink about a minute ago. She wasn’t there. Fox checked every room, every bathroom, and every bedroom but still couldn’t find her. He really needed to breathe so he sat down on the couch and took a deep breath. Then it all went black.

Spy Fox woke up in a room that was pitch black. He realised that he couldn’t breathe and that a bag was over his head. He was tied up in a chair. He could hear Lily shouting for help beside him. He was trained how to wiggle out of ropes, so he got his hands free and took the bag off his head. He was inside a cell, Lily was beside him, she was also in the same problem as he was. He freed himself from the chair and then freed Lily. They had to get out of the cell but had no key or any gadget to help them.

They heard someone walking down the hallway, their steps getting louder and louder. Suddenly Frisky the alpaca went around the corner.

“OH! You escaped, but you can’t escape this cell” Said Frisky as he swung the cell’s keys around his finger. “I might as well tell you my real name, I am Professor Frisky!”

“But there’s barely any difference to your actual name, you just added professor.” Said Lili. “Wait a second, you look like… Andy!”

“UGH, yes I did change my name, I hated it though but thank you for remembering me Lily because no one will remember you” Said Frisky evilly. Lily was so confused, but Spy Fox definitely knew what was going on. “I used to work in a camera factory, it was basically slavery at my old job. I decided to take revenge and use my knowledge in making cameras to spy on people and then put them in prison.”

“But, why?!” questioned Fox angrily.

“Well the fact that I was basically starved and had to sleep with other disgusting sweaty people made me want to take revenge and use people for experiments.” Said Prof. Frisky. “Ok my minions, I want you to keep them locked in here until the potion is ready.”

As Prof. Frisky walked away, a bunch of tiny but mad looking otters ran in front of the cell’s door to guard it.

“We have to get otter here!” Said Spy Fox in a serious tone.

“Hey Fox, you forgot about the deal, at the same time there’s no time for that now.” Replied Lily

Lily pulled a hairpin out of her fur and used it to quietly unlock the door. It swung open, as that happened they jumped out of the cell. The hedgehogs took 5 seconds to realise they escaped, because they were playing cards.

“CHARGE!!!” screamed the otters.

They ran after them. For being really small, they were really fast. They caught up to them running down the very long hallway. When Fox and Lily turned the corner, they somehow disappeared. The otters looked around, then they decided to keep running through the hallway. Spy Fox and Lily turned off their camouflage device and appeared from the wall.

“Where did that that Professor Fisky guy go?” Asked Lily.

“I don’t know,” Replied Fox. “I do have a gadget though that can help us track down where he went, it shows us his footprints.”

Spy Fox turned on his gadget and scanned the floor. The device showed him footprints that went deeper down the hallway. It was a long walk, but they decided not to run because their footsteps might be heard.

The footprints finally led into a giant door. It was so big that they could already guess it was his science lab. The door was also covered in a bunch of colorful ornaments that would blind you.

“Okay I’m going to count to 3 and then-” Said Spy Fox

But Lily already barged in “AAAHHHH”

Prof. Frisky was sat on a chair trying to put a mixture in a vial. All of a sudden, even more otters came running at them, they were pushed and then they tumbled over. Spy Fox kicked his way out of the otters that toppled over. Lily did the same. As they were running to Prof. Frisky, they realised he was gone. They turned around and saw him putting the vial in a giant machine.

“HAHAHAHA, now you’re trapped,” Said Prof. Frisky as he evilly laughed. “This device will spray this potion in a really far distance. This potion will turn whoever smells this as ugly as shrek”

He then pressed a giant red button, which started a countdown and then he ran away into a door which led to a safe room. All the otters ran away too. The machine was already down to a minute left of countdown.

Spy Fox ran over to the machine to see if he can turn it off. He didn’t button to press. He tried pressing a green one, but it their problem worse because it just made the timer go faster.

“Try pressing that big red one” Shouted Lily from across the room, ready to run out of the fire escape.

Spy fox pressed the big red button, which kind of reminded him of his last encounter with a bad guy.

A feminine robot voice started speaking, “Machine will now distruct in one minute.”

Spy Fox and Lily ran out of the fire escape. Lily made the flying car go wait outside. They hopped into the car and escaped.

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BOOM!!!*

The building exploded. They saw Prof. Frisky and his minions trying to take cover under the trees. They flew away off into the moonlight. They were definitely ready for their next mission.

Show Don't Tell

My Team Building Recount

My Horrid Slime Activity Experience

Let me tell you about the year 7 team building activity I participated in, trust me it was very interesting. It was also time for the year 8 camp. I decided not to go to camp with the other year 8 students. It was my first time at Pt England so I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t ready for all the activities we were going to have.

I was put into the orange team, which was named orange justice, and I gladly joined them. I really enjoyed the first few activities like cooking, but I didn’t expect to have a slime activity. I was really excited when I heard we were having that, because I used to make a lot of slime back in the day.

Other kids started telling me that all of their slimes failed. I started to get a bit scared that my slime wouldn’t work either. I could smell all the slime coming from room 5. It made me want to spew. I saw a lot of slime on the ground which made my hopes go down even more. I started to question myself “ Is this activity even a good idea anymore?”

We were about to walk into the room filled with monstrosity. I started regretting my life choices right there and then. “Okay year 7’s grab a partner and sit on a desk!” yelled Ms. Salu. It took awhile for everyone to calm down, because the others were running around the room. Eventually everyone was sat on a chair and ready to make slime. Sophia and I decided to team up and try our best despite all our bad feelings.

It was time to start, we were given a piece of paper that included a picture of slime and a list of instructions. Sophia and I followed (not really) the instructions and got everything we needed. It took us really long to find a bowl and a clean spoon because everyone took it all. We eventually found one and started pouring in the glue. We then added shaving cream, then mixed it all together. It looked like a really good consistency, but then the instructions told us to add cornstarch… so we did. We added the borax and started to combine it all. It looked really weird and it wouldn’t activate at all. I thought that it was probably the cornstarch because normally you wouldn’t add that into slime.

I started making other slimes with different ingredients, none of them would work. “Sophia we’re failures.” I said. “I know.” Sophia sadly replied. I started to give up and decided to watch everyone else attempt to fix their failures. I could see everyone carelessly pouring stuff into their slime which made a big mess. I could smell it all and I hated it so much. Someone said they made “slime” even though it was technically dough. Someone also dropped a bowl with slime on the floor. It was chaos! I learned that not everything that’s planned would go right.

On the next day, The last teams to make slime succeeded. I felt really sad when I heard about it. I saw them all playing with the slime. It made me think “Well, there’s always next time.” So that was my failed slime activity pretty bad eh?

Sesame Street Nightmare

Almost every 4 year old loves Sesame Street, especially Mary Anne. Everyday after school,
She would watch Sesame Street.
Her mother would continuously tell her to stop watching tv and get to her homework.

She would reply every time with “Homework can wait till later.”

She never did it though, so she gets in trouble at school every time.
She gets low grades in every test because she never studies.
Her mother tries her hardest to wake her up from her laziness.

Today was not different from the rest. She was silently watching Sesame Street late at night.

“Mary I’m switching that tv off if you don’t do your homework for the day!” Said her mom.

“I don’t care.” Replied Mary. She intently watched her show all night. At exactly 12:00 midnight,
she felt like she was about to doze off. All of a sudden she felt wide awake. Sesame Street was still on,
but it seemed a bit off.

Elmo was singing a song “I love you, you love me. We’re a happy family.” It was sung in a creepy tone.

Mary knows that song was from Barney. Elmo’s friends were starting to fade away,
so now it was just Elmo in a pitch black room.

Elmo started coming out of the tv while wildly chanting “DO YOUR HOMEWORK MARY!”

Mary was loudly screaming. It started slowly walking to her. And then…
It was gone. It was like everything went back to normal.

“Wait a second, everything is back to normal.”

She said. The tv was turned off and she was covered by a blanket.
She could hear her mother quietly snoring in the distance.
She then quickly ran to her room and did her homework.

Mary told herself “I promise to do my homework everyday.”
She did that just incase that “Elmo spirit” never bothers her again.
Her mom woke up to her doing her homework.
She smiled and silently walked away so she wouldn’t bother her.
