Princess And The Old, Brown Pea: The task was to rewrite a well known story with the same characters but with a different plot

One day, back in the time when kings and queens would rule far and wide. There once was a prince who loved shiny, clean gold. He even has a room filled with gold that he purposely ordered to be built so he could have his daily swim, apparently it was “soothing to the skin” even though it seemed like he would get a few bruises after swimming from the gold. His mother, the queen, was quite disappointed in his interest for wealth. She decided to get him a princess that could change him and make him a better person.

The prince had just finished his daily swim in gold as he passed by his mother.
“My goodness son, you have at least 8 more bruises from today. I have decided to ban you from your pool of gold!” Said his mother with a hint of concern in her voice.
“What?! I do not accept! I refuse to obey!” Said her son in anger.
The queen had enough, she needed her son to change for his own good and for the kingdom once he rules. She thought of giving him a wife to spend time with so that he could learn the value of other things. She didn’t want to tell him her plans, so she kept a secret. She planned a day where all princesses far and wide would be visiting her son so they could find the perfect wife.

The day has come, it is time to pick his bride. The prince still has no idea about this.
“Son, may I talk to you.” Said the queen.
“What, yeah sure mother.” replied the prince.
“Today I have invited princesses from far away to meet you, so I want you to be on your best behavior.” Said the mother.
The prince was just speechless, he started to turn red and groan in anger. He never wanted this to happen. His mother slowly and gently patted his head and walked away to get ready to greet their guests. Oh how angry and red the prince was, all he did was turn around and walk off to the big, luxurious kitchen to get some sparkling water that can calm him down.

Trumpets can be heard from outside as the prince lazily sat down on his throne waiting for the princesses to walk in.
“AAHHH!!! WE LOVE YOU PRINCE!!!” Screamed the princesses like crazy fangirls all lined up outside ready to meet him.
All the prince wanted to do was cancel this whole thing and swim in his room of gold. The door opened, a girl who seemed to look like a psychopath walked into the room. She had this unsettling creepy grin plastered upon her face, she basically looked like a mad, crazy serial killer who was about to kill everyone in the room. She ran up to the prince and pulled a piece of parchment out of her pocket.
“Oh why hello prince, will you s-sign my piece of parchment?” Asked the princess with a weird grin.
“Uhh, sure…” Replied the prince awkwardly as he signed the piece of parchment.
The princess then ran outside the giant doors screaming with joy and excitement.

A whole day of signing parchment was finally done, all the prince did was sign papers by crazy fangirl princesses. He stood up from his throne and walked into the big, fancy kitchen to have some nice supper.
“I really liked the 764th princess, she looked quite charming, she just seems a bit… odd.” The queen said as she followed her son.
“Mother, I said I do not want to marry. It is quite rude of you to force me! Besides, gold is already the only thing I need in my life!”Said the prince in a bit of a rage.
“Fine, if that is really what you want, then fine.” She replied with a disappointed tone in her voice.
The prince slowly walked to his ginormous, luxurious room to get ready for bed.

‘Knock knock’ A strange knocking noise came from downstairs, it was raining really hard. ‘KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK’ The knocking grew louder and louder.
“I’m coming!” Screamed the prince sleepily.
He guessed that nobody heard the loud, deafening knocking from the door. The prince opened the door to see a girl covered in mud water.
“Oh my oh my are you another one of those crazy fangirls here to kidnap me? Asked the prince who seemed to be very annoyed at this point.
“W-what do you mean, I a-am a lost princess only h-here to ask for a bed a-and maybe some clean water for the night.” Sweetly replied the girl.
The prince didn’t believe her. He looked down on her and just looked at her with a grumpy and angry face. Some footsteps could be heard from behind speedily walking down the giant long stairs.
“Oh my goodness, I’ll have to wake up all the staff. My dear boy, can you please give this nice girl some tea and a chair” Said the queen as she swiftly walked off to the staffs’ quarters. The prince groaned quite loudly and did what his mother told him to do. The queen’s plan was to see if that lady at the door was a princess.

The queen woke up a couple maids and told them to take at least 100 mattresses and one single, tiny, green pea. The prince already saw this coming, he read books about the pea under heaps of mattresses. If the lady who sleeps on it receives a lot of back pain, they are a princess. He ran up to his room and picked up an old, brown pea that he left there because he was too lazy to pick it up. He silently ran to the big room the girl would be sleeping in and came across the tallest bed ever to be seen. He sneakily swapped the nice, fresh pea for the old and brown one and was snickering all the way back to his room. So the night went on and the princess laid down. The extreme back pain had begun. She rolled around and counted sheep, to no surprise, she couldn’t sleep. She sobbed a bit here and there until the sun started shining through the window. She got out of her bed and walked into the big, grand the dining hall.
“Oh queen, I do not feel like I had a nice sleep. My bed was hard and it felt like rocks were under my back.” Complained the girl.
“Really? Oh my… OH MY!!!” The queen screamed in terror as she saw the girl.
The girl had a giant bulk on her back that resembled a boulder. She was slouching so much that you couldn’t even tell she was a monster or just someone with extreme back pain. The queen was so scared that she ordered the guards to kick her out. The doors slammed shut as the girl sadly walked away off into the forest.
“I am very sorry my boy, I should have seen that coming. A random princess showing up in the middle of the night?! How stupid can I be?” The queen said.
“Oh, don’t worry about it.” Said the prince who was trying to hold his laughter.

The prince then became king without a queen as his mother sadly dies from old age, he lives happily but quite lonely with his golden room. He never cared about his kingdom, so when he decided to go to the bakery and buy shiny, golden doughnuts, nobody was even in town. He was ruling a ghost town for 5 whole years without even knowing. He didn’t care but instead lived life with all his gold until he died from losing too much blood from his many bruises. The kingdom was then abandoned 10 years later. The princess from before who was turned into some kind of monster came back to the kingdom and set it all on fire, because of rage and anger. It started a wildfire that nearly burnt down 18 other kingdoms. The mysterious monster princess went back into hiding in anger, but we never know when she comes back again.

The End.

  1. Great story! But I think you have to fix your paragraphs at the end.
